Subject: [BELL-L] Merger of Bell Groups
Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 15:13:55 EDT
For general information, on 16 June 2001, the Clan Bell Descendants and Bell
Family Association of the United States (Clan Bell) (BFA-US) merged into one
group, the BFA-US.
The Founder Emeritus of Clan Bell Descendants is now an Advisor to the
President, BFA-US. The newsletter, Bell Chimes, has been discontinued.
Notification of the merger was published in the last Bell Appeal newsletter
and has also been forwarded to the Lord Lyon in Edinburgh for inclusion with
the Bell records on file in his office there.
The genealogical records of the Clan Bell Descendants will be merged with the
genealogical data base of the BFA-US. The BFA-US genealogical data base may
be viewed at www.clanbell.org under the United States. Modern records are
excluded to a certain extent to maintain individuals privacy.
The BFA-US Geneaologist, Larry Bell, accepts family records via GEDCOM to
enter into the data base. The objective is to create and maintain the most
accurate Bell genealogical records possible. These records are to include
Bell data world-wide as there are many Bells in countries around the world.
The BFA-US has International Representatives in most of the identified
countries and is working to identify and set-up other representatives.
Countries identified as having Bell connections but lacking representatives
are France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Sweden and Norway. Any additional
information regarding Bells in these identified countries would be greatly
appreciated.
If there are any questions, please direct them to Ward L. Ginn, Acting
President, BFA-US at .
