Well, at least you have a great sense of humour 8-) . The list sure
did appear to be as dead as a dodo, but suddenly is woken up. Guess
all it takes is for one person to stir the pot. Some of us, perhaps,
ought to be considering that Bennett was probably also Benito.
Wouldn't mind reckoning that in early days lots of the Bennetts were
either Roman Catholic or non-conformist depending where they came
from before they settled in England. Perhaps, if we get back that
far, we might look at Bennett as originally being Benedict. Then
again, I reckon that my Bennetts of Soho may have originally been
Benoit or even Beneit which was a popular name among the Normans of
France. Lots of non-conformist French chapels around Soho in early
days. Put two and two together!
