Hi Nancy,
I think you're on to something, and this is why... you mentioned Georgia and South Carolina, 2 states that I had not mentioned in my original query..
William married wife #1 [information unknown] and had at least one son:
1.Hiram Bennett: Born May 29, 1796 in Franklin Co., GA.; died July 21, 1888 in Dallas Co., TX. Hiram married [1] Theodocia Dobbs [no other information known] and then [2] Sarah Dougan [no other information known]. Reports are that he died in 1888 in Texas.
William may have had another son named Moses, although this has not been proven.
William then married wife #2, Sarah E. [maiden name unknown; born in 1780 in South Carolina.].
Wm's and Sarah's 1st son, Pleasant, was born in Georgia.. I think there are too many similarities to be just a fluke, I think. [the rest of Wm.'s and Sarah's children were born in Alabama.]
Also, William and Hiram seems to be the prevalent names in this line, along with James Madison. I don't think you are grabbing at straws. I think there is a strong possibility that you are connected, but we need to find documentation and sources to back up our gut feelings.
I would like to exhange info, if you're willing.. I do have info on some cousins that have done more in depth research this far back.
Please email me privately at:
Will be anxious to hear from you.
