How was the date range for the photo established? I spoke with my mother and she has no material evidence of his travels west as a teenager. She does remember that he dropped out of school as he was avoiding becoming a minister. She remembers that he had also worked as a cook for a railroad. We both remember his telling of working in various places in the mid-west and his working on the construction of the St. Louis Fair. He was also a gambler ( I have his dice cup ) - and yes, he later did finish school and become a minister.

So - the date of the photo? I stilled doubtful of their being two men named Lewis Cass Bennett (Cass was his mother's maiden name).
