I don't know why, but Natalie's message didn't make it to the group. I
am forwarding. Please reply to her directly for any clarification, not
to me.

To obtain "BONES OF BERDICHEV: The Life and Fate of Vasily Grossman" by John
Garrard (New York : Free Press, 1996) try your regional libraries,
requesting it through interlibrary loan if necessary. For example, it is
listed as available from 2 libraries in Central Massachusetts.
One list of holocaust victims from this book is reproduced at Jorge
Spunberg's awesome web site, "The Berdichev Revival"
(http://www.berdichev.org/; click on "Holocaust").
Part of my family traces back to Berdichev but the details are too sketchy
to pursue the links. We aren't even certain about the original family names
of the relatives who came to the US, and we have no information at all
about any family that may have been left behind, dead or alive. So my
genealogy includes only the families I could locate with living members in
the US. Best of luck to all of you who can dig back farther than that!
