MATTHEW BIGGS, born 19 Oct 1823 TN, married 18 Apr (1848?) PAULINE
SHADDOCK, b ca 1828 TN. They were in Montgomery Co TN in 1850, Marshall Co
KY in 1860, and in Hickman Co KY in 1870 and 1880. Buried in Greene Co AR.

The names of Matthew's children below are taken from his household in the
1850-1880 censuses. Some middle names and initials are added from the web
site at

Mary, Elizabeth and Tennessee were evidently born before Matthew's marriage
to
Pauline, suggesting this might have been a second marriage for one or both
of them.
The only census in which these three girls appear in Matthew's household is
the 1850.

as 64, born in TN of parents b TN, machinist in machine shop.]

WINFIELD S. BIGGS. (Quite likely named for Gen. Winfield Scott, hero of the
Mexican War.) This name has been transcribed as Winfred, but a close
inspection convinces me it's Winfield. Despite some data discrepancies
between censuses, this man may be the Winfield S. Biggs, b Jan 1851 TN, who
is found in the 1880 census of Collin Co TX and the 1900 and 1910 censuses
of Faulkner Co AR. Wm. A. B. Gately, brother-in-law of Matthew Biggs, died
in Faulkner County in 1890. Winfield of Collin Co married Nancy Steed,
possibly in Independence Co AR, where she was living in 1870. Her brother
Calvin married a woman named Tennessee, listed as born around 1847 in TN.
Age is a bit off, but research might show her to be Matthew's daughter
Tennessee Biggs.
