John LAMPHERE of Waterford,New London Co.CT,and unknown wife and 2 young
children
moved to The Town of Colesville,in 1785 in what is now BROOME Co. NY <> John
died in the winter of
1788,by freezing to death in a snow storm. The
widow struggled on until 1794,when she married
BENJAMIN BIRD in nearby Harpursville,NY.
at BIRD'S HOTEL. Each of these events are recorded in the History of
Colesville.
1. First white settlers in that area,1785
2.First death, John Lamphere,1788
3.First marriage,Benj. BIRD/ Widow LAMPHERE.

Who was this Benjamin BIRD,where did he go
Who was his wife,Her name ?
What became of the young children.
