Hi all-
Last night I found a ship Manifest at EllisIsland.org that contains
the name of a possible relative. Her name is Edith Beattie. She
disappeared from English Census Records, so I took a wild stab in the
dark and found an Edith Beattie who came to America in 1912. Her age
matches the age of the Edith Beattie I am looking for. When I looked
closer, it states her parents were Mr & Mrs ?Wm.? Beattie of 160
Oliver Street, Birkenhead England. It looks like the name of her
father was William, but it is hard to read which would be a match to
my Edith. I looked for them in the 1911 census and found a different
Edith Beattie (her Cousin) and no William in Birkenhead in 1911
whatsoever. I do have their census records of them in Birkenhead from
previous years, but the addresses don't match.
Does anybody have any idea how I could confirm that this is the Edith
beattie that was the daughter of William and who lived in Birkenhead
in 1961-1901. Is there a way to look the Beattie's up who lived at
160 Oliver Street?
According to the manifest, she went to see a S. R. Mitchell in Rye,
New York. I didn't find any matches in the 1910 US Census for a S.R.
Mitchell in Rye and didn't find Edith Beattie in the 1920 US Census
at all (She may have been married and/or moved by then).
Father: William Beattie (b. 1844 Sep 10, Kirkcudbright, Scotland)
Mother: Mary Beattie ( b 1851 in Cheshire, England)
Edith Beattie (b. 1881 in Birkenhead, England)
Other children include:
• William Beattie
• David Beattie
• Mary Beattie
• Alfred Beattie
• Harold Beattie
• Miriam Beattie
• Elizabeth G Beattie
• Sarah Beattie
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
