Hi ~~ You think you are having problems with this - you should see my
genealogy file. I start out with three generations of 1 't' and then it
goes to 2 "t's". Those first few generations are a mess. Sometimes I have
it as one and other times as two.
Why did this happen? There were no other Bisset folks in New Brunswick, so
why the switch to Bissett? I know Tom Giammo has had the same problem with
his Bissett research. First generation into Nova Scotia was not even
Bisset. Second generation was using Bisset. Third generation was now
Bissett.
Seeing that Nova Scotia and New Brunswick didn't have a love affair with
the Arcadians, why make it look more like a French name?
Does anyone know how far back the Bissett was used? Was it written
anywhere in the 1700's as Bissett? All my 1700 records of the family are
Bisset!
