Hi,

I have set out a summary of my Bissets from around 1790-1820 to see whether
anyone else can plug into it. This is similar to a message that I posted
six months ago, so many of you should disregard it.

Our Bissets originated in Perth, Scotland, and there are branches of the
family in New Zealand, Ohio, California, Canada, Nevada and Japan. The
names of the earliest (enormous) Perth Bisset family that I can trace are
as follows, and all events took place in Perth, Perthshire, Scotland :-

William Bisset
+Helen Irvine (married 27 November 1789)
|--Mary, chr. 10 Oct 1790
|--Katherine, chr. 22 Sep 1791
|--John, chr. 22 Sep 1791 (has descendants in England)
|--Nelly, chr. 24 Mar 1793
|--William, chr. 24 Mar 1793
|--Isobell, chr. 5 Jul 1795
|--Katherine, chr. 25 Dec 1796
|--James, chr. 14 Oct 1798
|--Mary Christian, chr. 13 Jul 1800
|--David, chr. 31 Oct 1802 (has descendants in Canada and England)
|--Margaret, chr. 8 Jul 1804
|--Janet, chr. 20 Sep 1807
'--Alexander, chr. 6 May 1810 (my GGG Grandfather, descendants everywhere)

The list above seems to include two sets of twins. Twins were very common
in our line in the following century, perhaps that's just chance.

As background, I'm a 35-year-old New Zealander working for National
Australia Bank in London, England. My mother's maiden name was Isabel
Bissett, and my Grandfather (Bruce MacDonald Turnbull Bissett) was a
Presbyterian minister in New Zealand. His father (John Wilberforce Bisset)
was manager of the Kaiapoi woollen mills in New Zealand, and his father
(William Bisset) was a leading temperance campaigner in Bathgate, Scotland.
His father (Alexander Bisset, the youngest of the huge family above) was a
weaver in Perth.

If anyone makes a match with the above, I would be very interested to hear!

Best wishes,

Jim Rowe
