Jim, I found my problem and I'm ashamed to admit to my stupidity. I was
not saving the path before I tried to read the file, of all things. The
tilde doesn't seem to make any difference, even though it isn't in my path
name. I'm bringing up everything, now. Thanks for your help. Barb
