Hello all! I have A LOT of information to share and a lot of questions. I
found some Adam Huffmans and so many of the names are so similar that I feel
there has to be some kind of a connection to Louisa L. Blundell who married
Abraham Davis White born in Georgia.- Here goes! I do hope some of the extra
info can help someone. Blessings, Kathleen O'Donnell-Grone

Another thought about Louise L. Blundell is that it has been told to me that
that she was part Native American or mixed heritage. In Louisiana she could be
of various races. Maybe her mother was a servant/slave in the Huffman house
and took their name- maybe, who knows?? Any ideas??
More historical info that may help us--
The Clifton Choctaw Tribe is a group living in a closed community in Rapides
Parish. They are Choctaw, Chatot, Creole and African. One student of this group
relates that some of the families from the Clifton group may have come
originally to Louisiana from North Carolina where they were members of the
Lumbee Indian Tribe. This has not been documented.
A large new Indian population had begun to develop in southwestern Louisiana in
the mid-nineteenth century. Apparently, immigrants from the Carolinas and
Georgia sought areas where there were Indian or mixed Indian and
black-and-white families. Today, these early Carolinians and Georgians (the
Whites and maybe the Blundells and Huffmans seemed to have followed this
pattern) would nearly all be from families bearing surnames associated with the
non-tribal groups in those states with the strongest Indian identities, such as
the Lumbee, Haliwa, and Westoes. These were the people who came to be
identified as "Red Bones." ... A scattering of Louisiana Indians, including
Biloxi, Choctaw, and Panana, sometimes called "Seminole" in error, was clearly
associated with the Carolina and Georgia immigrants, reinforcing Indian
genetics. Whites and blacks, in some instances, are said to have become part of
this mixture of races and cultures. Indian identity remained strong in the Red
Bone communities, and cultural behavior reflected Indian roots. Artifacts were
placed on graves, fires were often lighted for the dead, matrilocal residence
was common, and a forest economy with such material traits as basketry and
blowguns persisted....many communities became isolated, both geographically and
socially.
*******Additional Info that may help someone else. Also, I am told there is a
picture of Louisa L. Blundell and I would love a copy if you could scan and
email it to me -- I would be forever greatful!! I have been promised it
several times but have never received it.******

the time. She had long black hair. She was invited to Indian burials. Her
mother is believed to be Indian. Years earlier she had been run over by a wagon
and had suffered severe internal injuries which had later contributed to her
death in childbirth."
Cause of Death: peritonitis; ruptured uterus; died days following birth of her

Texas: War of 1812 The following list of Veterans of the War of 1812, who were
at sometime in Texas, was mostly gleaned from "War of 1812 Veterans in Texas,"
by Mary Smith Fay, published in 1979. Much more detailed information on the
veterans' service and family, etc. are included in this most informative book
which covers all of Texas. The requirements for inclusion in her book was
service (military or civilian) in the War of 1812 and that each one had been in
Texas at one time or another.

Red River County Deed Abstracts, Joyce Martin Murray
Bill of Sale 24 November 1824 Thomas Hooper, Rapides Parish, to Elizabeth
(Huffman) Blundell (of same parish), $500, Negro woman Sucky, 17 years and
infant child Jerry. Signed by both parties. Witness J.M. Bartlet, C. Brannon.
Done before Thomas C. Scott, Parish Judge.
Terry Armstrong writes: "I find it interesting that Elizabeth was born at such
an early date in Louisiana. Louisiana in 1793 was under French control. (I have
yet to confirm that).
In the area of north of Liverpool, England, there is a clan of Blundells dating
back to the 12th century. It is thought that Francis and his wife Catherine
came to Virginia from Ireland. At the end of the 18th century and the beginning
of the 19th century, he and his family lived in Natchez, Mississippi. That is
why his death is listed this way.
I know that he and Catherine (Do you know her maiden name?) lived there,
(Natchez) because she got in trouble with the justice court there in1801 and
was fined $50 for embarassing the people of the Territory of Mississippi (never
said what she did!) Would appreciate hearing from you. Hope all goes well.
