Subject: Letter of Complaint/Grievance
Jan, Bridgett, Holly, Yvonne: please add my name in support of Don
Spidell's complaint (Re: his letter of Sat. Oct. 10, 1998 to his
USGenWeb Board representatives).
I hesitate to take this drastic action, but I also agree that Maureen is
overstepping her bounds, and is causing dissention within The
USGenWeb Project. She has made unjustifiable statements and
demands, and appears to be influencing the opinions of the
KSGenWeb cc's, while at the same time withholding selective
information from them.
At this time, I would like to also register my protest that Maureen's
actions, as well as Nancy's, appear to be supporting USGenWeb,
Inc. the for-profit corporation of Idaho. In March 1998, when that
corporation was discovered, they both publicly stated their support
of USGenWeb, Inc. and their support of Jerry Dill, one of the
incorporators. Their obsession with obtaining control of
usgenweb.com at this time leads me to question their intentions.
Don's letter:

Dear Members of the USGenWeb Project Board:
I submit this letter in accordance with Article XIV, Sections 1 and 2
of the USGenWeb Project bylaws.
I sent the letter below to my representatives as an ASC of Arizona
and a CC of a county in Arizona. My letter was ignored by one and
all. Betsy Mills has since apologized for not following up on my letter,
and I have accepted her apology.
However, for the others, Trey Holt and Maureen Reed, they should
be reprimanded for not representing me, and severely censured by
the USGenWeb Board.
In the matter of Maureen Reed; She has been stepping way beyond
her bounds as a member of the USGenWeb Board. She has been
meddling in the internal affairs of State Projects, and Special
Projects, which is not where the board has any authority.
In Missouri, Maureen Reed demanded answers to questions as to
why a particular person was chosen to be State Coordinator, and
why another person was not chosen. This is an internal matter of the
State, and is none of the business of Maureen Reed as a board
member.
I suspect she has been interfering with the internal business of
Kansas, but I don't have any direct input on that affair.
In the USGenWeb Archives Project, Maureen Reed demanded the
answers to certain questions about the internal operations of the
Project, and when she was answered, she continued to demand
more and obviously different answers than those she was given.
When she was graciously allowed to log onto the mailing list of the
USGenWeb Archives Project, she demanded that the whole mailing
list of KSGenWeb be subscribed to the USGenWeb Archives
Project mailing list. When this was not allowed by members of the
USGenWeb Archives Project, she continued to be a disruptive and
argumentative disturbance on the list, until we were forced to have
her removed, and then she continued her disturbances and
disruptions tantamount to causing a riot on the USGenWeb-All
mailing list. I have said that her questions were answered, even
though she did not have the authority to demand any of them to be
answered, as they were all dealing with the internal operations of a
Special Project, where the USGenWeb Board has no authority. Now
she is still demanding that a page of the USGenWeb Archives be
removed. I am talking about the Table of Contents page for the
archives stored in the Kansas section of the archives project. She
does not have the authority to demand that we remove any page
from the archives project, and yet she is still demanding that it be
done.
So, I demand that she be stilled! Maureen Reed should be put under
a restraining order to cease and desist harassing the USGenWeb
Archives Project with her demands. Maureen Reed should be
reprimanded severely for interfering with the internal business of
state projects and special projects. Maureen Reed should be put on
probation for at least six months under threat of being declared
Persona Non Grata on all public mailing lists that have anything to do
with the USGenWeb Project.
It has come to the attention of myself and several others that there is
no provision for impeachment of board members and the National
Coordinator. I demand that the board have an emergency session to
immediately begin drafting an amendment to the by-laws addressing
impeachment, and that the amendment be presented to the voting
populace of the USGenWeb Project within the next few months. I
also demand that the voting populace of the USGenWeb Project be
kept updated on the progress made on the impeachment
amendment.
