Fellow board members:

Now that we have survived the Y2K media hype, it is time to begin thinking
about the elections this summer.

We need to begin thinking about where to hold the election -- rootsweb or
an independent site. If an independent site, what is the definition of an
independent site? I can probably arrange to host the election on a server
at a Catholic University, run by a Bangla Deshi with no American genealogy.
But since I make the arrangements, does that make it suspect??

The only way to truly take the suspicions out of the election would be to
hire an outside accounting firm, such as Price-Waterhouse to conduct the
elections. (They do the elections for the Academy Awards every year, and I
have never heard a runner-up asking for a re-count) This will cost $$$$.
Since we have a whopping $0 in our treasury and no budget or income, we
would have to consider some kind of fund-raising to cover the cost.

I am open to other suggestions from the board members and from the CC's as
well, but we need to begin a dialogue on this matter so that elections can
take place on schedule according to the By-Laws.
