Subject: [BOARD-L] Delay in Voting on Motion 2-21
Date: Fri, 15 Nov 2002 00:08:40 -0500
Good Evening Mr and Mrs AB and the NC,
Personally, I am not in favor of seating anyone or any
replacement to the AB at this time. If I vote against the
present candidate it should not be taken one way or another
as to my approval or disapproval of that person. Way back
in early September 2002 [though it seems like years ago now]
when we first attempted to replace the NE/NC SC Rep it
looked like "first things first" would be delayed as long as
the item was not on the agenda posted by the NC. In October
the next issue to be taken up on the listed agenda was
"first things first" or operating procedures of the AB. In
an hour from now we pass the mid-point of the month of
November 2002, and the "next" agenda item has not been
reached.
We have no one seated as Census Project Rep, no one seated
as NE/NC SC Rep, we have no one seated in the recently
vacated NW/Plains CC Rep position, and we have an absent
RAL. A motion was made to fill the NE/NC SC Rep and is now
delayed for discussion.
Some AB members are called out of order, which may be
technically factual in some cases, but certainly not
justifiably so.
Traditional time schedules are overlooked and changed at the
will of the NC and though one tries to give respect to the
position it is beginning to be difficult to remain
respectful to the position due to a developing lack of
respect for the personality in the position.
It is obvious to this member of the AB that the anger or
disrespect shown here is due to frustration. Each member is
capable of agreeing to disagree in acceptable fashion until
their heads hit brick walls just so many times.
So why bring new members on board without first settling
upon how we shall govern ourselves instead of being told
what we can handle or told how it will be handled? But,
that is not the question before the AB; the question is
whether to seat a person in a vacant position.
On the surface, I might be pleased with a delaying action
due to the above reasons, yet at the very same time I
recognize that it will be another month, plus other blocks
of time before we settle procedures. So, until new
information comes to light, I conclude that the object of
delays, and other motions coming before the AB are tactics
to stall "first things first" in order to serve a personal
agenda.
Good night, folks, while it is still today,
Bill Oliver
NW/Plains CC Rep
