It has been pointed out to me that "50% plus 1 vote" is also not a
satisfactory definition of a majority. (If there are 101 voters, and
one candidate receives 50 votes and the other 51, this does not satisfy
the "50% plus 1" requirement (50% of 101 is 50.5, plus 1 is 51.5 . . .
rounding takes you to 52).
Can it be changed to simply say "a majority" or "a simple majority" or
something like that?

Subject: [BOARD-L] Amended Version of Motion
With the various agreed upon changes, Phyllis' motion now reads (and
please
correct me if I'm wrong):
I move that the current procedures for conducting the yearly election
for NC
and AB Representatives be changed so that voting will begin on July 1
and
end at midnight July 10. Any race where a person does not receive a true
majority (50% plus 1 vote) of the votes cast for that office, will
necessitate a run-off election between the two candidates receiving the
most votes. The run-off
will begin July 22 end at midnight July 31.
Is there additional discussion, or are you ready to vote?
