Subject: Motion 05-13 Amendment - Point of Order
Date: Wed, 10 Aug 2005 19:43:29 -0500
Madam Chair:
It is my understanding that the discussion at this point is whether to adopt the amendment or not. While I understand that the merits of the amendment must be considered by the Board while discussing the adoption, we seem to be debating the merits of the amendment at this point. I suggest that this is premature.
One of the things I do agree with Don on is that this action is overdue, and time is of the essence. Since there does not appear to be discussion on the issue of adoption or not, would it not be prudent to call for the question and allow the Board to make that determination before the discussion of the merits goes on much longer?
If a vote of the Board defeats the motion to amend then this entire discussion is moot. I believe that debating the merits of the issue prior to the vote on the amendment will simply be duplication of the discussion that would occur should the Board vote to amend.
