But announcing the results of a vote effectively ends the voting, and
having a 2/3 majority of a quorum doesn't necessarily mean that the
result would stand if the voting continued.

There are 14 voting members of the board. 9 voting members constitute a
quorum. If you cut off a vote with 9 votes cast, 6 votes would decide
the issue (less than half the board). If all 14 members cast a vote, a
2/3 majority is 9.24 votes. Round that down, 9 votes. Only 8 votes
were cast in favor of this motion at the time our "results" were
announced, before the 48 hour voting period had elapsed.

The past precedent has been to announce the results of the vote IF the
results would be unchanged by further voting. It's not appropriate to
end a vote just because a quorum's been reached unless the vote results
would still stand if all members voted. That situation did not exist
when the results were announced on this vote.
