I agree with Angie and Linda on this one. I don't think the vote results
should be announced before the end of the voting period unless the vote
result wouldn't change if all the board members that could vote do vote as a
block yea or nay.

I know what the Bylaws say and the SOP say - that is why I questioned this
vote.
I assumed it is one that required 2/3 to pass.
As Angie pointed out, if the remaining AB members voted a certain way within
the time period, the results would have been different.
This is the 2nd time that there has been a misunderstanding on the voting
process and I think we need to get it straightened out before we proceed. I
totally disagree with your logic on this.

Linda the by-laws (Article VIII) states: "Section 1. Nine (9) voting members
of the Advisory Board shall constitute a quorum.
Section 2. Issues shall require a 2/3 majority, of those board members
voting, to pass."
Our Operating Procedures clarify this section of the by-laws:
"All voting will be via email to the Board-L list. When a vote is called,
members will have 48 hours to respond and have their vote recorded, however
results of votes will be announced once a quorum has been reached and enough
votes have been cast to insure the passage or failure of the motion."
When I came in from work last night 10 members had voted, meeting and
exceeding a quorum of 9, the votes cast were 8-2, meeting the requirement
for a 2/3 vote of those members voting. Under the by-laws and standard
voting procedure (above) I declared the results.

| Madame Chair,
|
| Regarding our Bylaws posted here:
| and referencing Article VIII, Section 2, can you please explain
this
| announcement on this vote on Motion #05-24 before the specified
time period
| as posted?
|
| "Since most people seen to have not further discussion please
vote
| on the following motion. Please signify Accept if you accept
the
| slate or Reject if you do not accept the slate. Voting may continue
| until Tues Dec 6th, 5:30 pm CT, unless a decision is reached eariler."
|
| My experience is that if something other than the vote
requirements in
| Article VIII, Section 2 is going to be accepted that
information would be
| posted with the call for the vote.
