Scott,
Not sure why this was copied to the board list. But in my opinion, your
response to Fred's grievance is not within the authority of the NC.

If Fred, according to our bylaws, wants to file a grievance against any
member, all he has to do is state it to any AB member and then it is up to
the board to publicly examine and decide it. He is not required to argue his
case in his filing of the grievance.

But, Fred's filing as forwarded includes an appointment of a representative.
The AB is not a court of law and the bylaws state that grievances may be
made by one member against another, and even at common law, the accused has
the right to be faced by the accuser, not the accuser's representative.

By this response, I am not advancing any opinion on the merits of Fred's
complaint. Am only stating what I believe about the role of the AB and the
NC.
