I guess we could go through the motions to do that but it wouldn't change
anything. First of all, all committees are in or out of existence per the
desires of the AB unless it is established in the bylaws such as our
Election Committee. Committees are tools for the AB and for the membership
and can be established as a "Standard Committee" which is more permanent
such as our EC, Grievance, and Newsletter or they can be temporary and set
up as "Special Committees." In both cases it is a decision of the AB.
Secondly, even if we amended this motion to dissolve once the final report
is issued, another AB could very well modify that or establish it again to
do some follow on work or whatever. On the other side of the coin, if we
don't amend this motion to dissolve once the final report is issued, the AB
would be at liberty to dissolve it earlier if they felt the job wasn't
getting done or whatever. I'm not saying the suggestion is a bad idea rather
more than likely it won't make any difference.
The whole point is for the AB to get a factual presentation of all the
options for this type of organization. It has nothing to do with this group
making any 'decisions.'
Sincerely,
Mike
