Understood, and I agree, but based on Laura's example, even though genealogy
related the post in question is a pure ad and also quotes money, and either
one are not allowed, much less both in the same ad.

Believe it or not, I have actually had one (and only one) person ask for
authorization to post an ad on a board. It was genealogy related, though a
real stretch for the topic of the board, and I allowed it, then I posted a
very brief (to avoid detracting from the post itself) "response" to it
pointing out that the poster had asked to do it and that permission is
always specific for one post ONLY.

I do not say that my way of doing it is for everyone, but it works for me,
and I do not have to make decisions like "should I allow this post or not?"
Unfortunately, it means I sometimes remove something that might be of help
to some subscribers, but that does not happen often, IMHO.

On Message Boards the admin doesn't have the leeway to granting permission
for commercial or fee for service-type posts--period.
