I use a few urls that take up 3-5 lines in an email program, (I know bad
programming of site) that I send out quite often to people, to assist them,
and tiny URLs are fantastic for this.
If they removed everything that could be used by spammers or the like there
wouldn't be anything left on the web. We just have to use a little common
sense, and stop being totally paranoid.

Joan,
no sense in repeating what I have already said - it
just appears that we may have had different experiences
in the past. Including the one about the "usefulness"
of short links.
