War - do read Thomas Pakenham's book "The Boer War". Also suggest using a
search engine (Google.com) and searching under "Boer War".

Ref. your second question about casualties the following site has a listing

I believe the LDS recently acquired a book listing alphabetically all men of
British/Imperial forces with regiment/number/cause ofdeath,where
killed/buried etc.
Check the Commonwealth War Graves site http://yard.ccta.gov.uk/cwgc/register

If this list has an Archives there was a four page message in January of this
year entitled "How to trace an ancestor...who served in the Anglo-Boer War".
