Hello
I am trying to find out where I can locate the grave of my great grandfather JOHN JAMES WOODLEY who died in the Boer War in 1902 in Malta.
These details are from his death certificate -
Died 3rd January 1902, JAMES WOODLEY (no JOHN mentioned) English, Male, aged 39 and 8 months, Private 2177, died of Dyspepsia, signature of Residence Informant, G F Mylote Cospicua, registered 3rd Januarh 1902 Malta, signature of officer making return, M S M Dennis, Capt. Adjt 1st Bn Royal Garrrison Regt.
His occupation on his daughters birth certificate in 1890 says he was a Trumpeter. R.A. (Staff).
He was married and had been living in Stoke Damerel, Plymouth before he went abroad.
I found it odd his full name was not on his death certificate, but I feel very sure this is the right man, his age at death fits in with his birth for the 7th May 1862. I have searched the GRO for his death and could not find him.
Any ideas where to write to for his full details and details of his resting place in Malta.
Thanks
Brenda
