Hi Alan,

There are two records in the South African Archives when I searched the name
John NOON. See below. It looks like the second record is not yours. If your
John NOON was John Henry NOON, then it's likely that the first is yours. The
on-line information is only an index and if it looks like your man you will
have to get someone to transcribe the information for you. The DEPOT TAB
means that the information is held at the "Transvaal" Archives, thus in
Pretoria.

Hello List. Hopefully SKS can help me out. My grandfather John Noon passed
away in Simonstown S. Africa sometime before 1905. He married my grandmother
15 Sep 1902, at the time of his marriage his address was Whittington
Barracks, Lichfield and his occupation was listed as a writing clerk.
Was he in the military? Based on the year of death was he involved in the
Boer War.
Any help no matter how trivial would be appreciated.
