Can someone please advise me on the following:

I am researching a Frederick Goldsmith of East Hoathly. I have his army
details from PRO Kew which state the following: That he was "Home -
14.3.1901 - 12.10.1902" and "Discharged 31.7.02". On discharge he proposed
to live at Grey Wood, East Hoathly.

The only Frederick who fits the above Frederick in my records is a Frederick
William Goldsmith. However, in the 1901 census Frederick William is with
his parents, admittedly in Grey Wood, East Hoathly, but his occupation is
Rural Postman.

Was it usual for someone still in the army to be employed in a civilian job?
or have I got the wrong Frederick?

Jane
