Dear listers
We are researching WALTER BENHAM .. Born 13th April 1877 at New Alresford
Hants UK
He married Charlotte Bowles on 26th December 1904 at Blindley Heath near
Godstone Sy.
He was known to have served in the South African Constabulary (mounted
police).
We are trying to identify him from a photograph which we can be seen on a web
page as follows

Can anyone confirm that this is perhaps the uniform of the Boer War?
In 1900 we believe he was living at Abinger Hammer or Godstone on the
Surrey/Sussex border.
Is there any where we can find out where he enlisted and on which ship he
travelled to South Africa and the campaigns he was likely to have been involved
in?
Many thanks
Peter Ruffle
