Hi List
Where do I start my search to find out if my grandfather was in
the Boer War? Are there any libraries or individuals out there who have
lists of names, or are there any individuals who specialise in doing Boer
War searches for a fee?
I have spent the last year searching through the 1901 census for my
grandfather using all possible search techniques and wild cards without
getting remotely close to his name, place of birth or occupation, and as his
first appearance in the 20th Century was at his 1904 marriage where he
stated his occupation as Groom, my first thought was that he had become a
horseman in the Boer War. Previously (1891 Census) he was a chimney sweep.
I nee to get off the ground on this, any help appreciated
Eric in Ottawa
