Subject: Boer War photo - Grenadier Guards

Hello

I am new to this list as a relative has just sent me a
copy of a photograph which has the inscription "Boer
War" written on the reverse.

From the grenade emblems on the collars and the single
buttons I am assuming the soldiers are Grenadier
Guardsmen.

What we would like to know is if there is any specific
reason why the soldiers should be wearing what appear
to be two roses in the front of their "forage caps"
[not sure of the correct name]. The roses appear to be
of two different colours and it all appears to be
executed in a very military style - the darker flower
to the right and the paler one to the left [from the
soldiers point of view]

Any help on the above or information about the
location of any Grenadier Guards records [Boer War]
would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you
Stephen
