Dear Sirs,
I am not sure if I am in the correct place to send a request for information
on the Boer War but here goes:
My grandfather, Frederick Horton, born Topcliffe, North Yorks in 1864 served
in Durham Light Infantry in 1884-1886. His service number was 1581. He
rejoined the colours for the Boer War and saw service in South Africa. I have a
couple of medal ribbons and bars for him. I believe that he was involved in
the battle at Korn Spruit (Durham Record Office Ref No D/DLI 2/1/18(140)
refers) but I can find no other reference to him. Has anyone else out there come
across him? I would be more than pleased to receive anything, no matter how
tenuous a link. Thank You. S. Bigg
