In 1897 my grandfather served in the Grenadier Guards being discharged in 1904. He was 4911 L/Cpl Charles Edwin Lees, he was a L/cpl in 1897 but was discharged as a sergeant.
He served in the Boer War, but I am not sure for how long.
In 1897 he was a member of the 19th company. Can someone please tell me which Battalion this company was in and would my grandfather serve in that company all the time. I would like to know as I am keen to look at the actions he was in.
