I believe that the Y-DNA results have produced a match that may reveal a
clue to finding the ancestors of James L. Boggs (1752 NC-1835 KY) of Blaine
Kentucky.

Two of his descendants on the Boggs Surname Project had a 25 out of 25 match
for Y-DNA markers. Even with only two individuals tested, the fact that the
two individuals are no closer than fifth cousins through the paternal line,
makes it highly likely that this is the true Y-DNA of this "Boggs" line.

The next piece of the puzzle was found when a search of this "Boggs" Y-DNA
on the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMFG.ORG) found a match to a
Bogue participant.

This Bogue participant traces his line to a Jesse Bogue

This Jesse Bogue (1807-) ancestors are not known, but I have come across a
number of Bogue's that relocated from NC to IN. My assumption is that future
Y-DNA tests of Bogue's from NC will match this Jesse Bouge descendant. If
James L Boggs can be linked to the NC Bogue line, up to 10 more generations
back to 1420 might be linked. (See below) Also note that in generation 8
the ancestor is Laird Archibald Bog de Burhouse. Could this be the source of
some of the "Laird Boggs tales"?

I found a rootsweb site that shows these ancestors/descendants of William
Bogue (1728-)of Perquimans County, NC. I do not find an obvious fit to James
L Boggs, but the Y-DNA results suggest that he might fit in.
