It would really be great if we could stir up some interest in the Bolton
List and a roll call is a good start. My BOLTONs began as BOULTONs.. .
maybe some of you also have that situation, or if you've come upon a brick
wall you might want to check it out. My folks are listed below.

1. GEORGE1 BOULTON was born 1740 in Wexford, Ireland, and died 1794 in
Lyn,Elizabethtown Twp., Ontario, Canada - Bolton's Cemetery, Leeds,
Elizabethtown. He married NANCY BICKFORT 1761.

George and Nancy immigrated to the Philadelphia, PA area of America between
1765 and 1770 with their first son, Abraham.
He joined Loyalists in 1777. After the war he immigrated to Niagara region.
The rattlesnakes on the land were so bad that they left and walked to York
(Toronto) where they were able to take a boat to Elizabethtown Twp renamed
Brockville in 1812.
When they arrived there were no European settlements in the area. The men
blazed trails into the wilderness. Upon their way, passing through the
United States, a boy baby was born to them that received the name of
William, a daughter, Alice, and six sons were born in Canada. All these
children lived to a great age.

5. ABRAHAM2 BOULTON (GEORGE1) was born 1762 in Wexford, Ireland, and died
July 13, 1850 in McTaggart's Cemetery, Usborne Twp., Huron County, Ontario,
Canada. He married MARY ELLIOTT 1792 in Elizabethtown, Leeds, Ontario,
daughter of DAVID ELLIOT and SARAH ?. She was born 1771 in near Dover , New
York, and died December 31, 1866 in McTaggart's Cemetery, Usborne Twp.,
Huron County, Ontario, Canada.

Abraham Bolton born 1762 County of Wexford, Ireland d. 13 July 1859 Usborne
Twp, Huron Co. Both he and Mary are buried at McTaggarts, Usborne Twp.,
Huron Co. Her father was David Elliott and her mother was Sarah. Their
children were Hannah, Sarah, Nancy, Mary "Polly", George, Eleanor, Samuel,
Henry and Diane. Ensign Abraham Bolton was part of the Grenville militia in
1803. Capt. Abraham Bolton received his commission on Feb. 20, 1812. By 1815
his farm had 54 cultivated and 80 uncultivated acres. He and Mary moved to
Usborne Twp Huron Co., around 1847 where they were cared for by their son
Abraham married Mary Elliot circa 1792. Both are buried at McTaggarts,
Usborne Twp. Huron County with their son Samuel. 1796 Leeds census names
spelled Boolton, 1802, 1808 spelled Boulton, 1810 Bolton, 1812, 1819 and
1821 Boulton. From 1839 forward it was spelled BOLTON. Throughout most of
the census records the brothers change and interchange the spelling of the
Abraham fought for the British in the American Revolutionary War. He and at
least part of his family came from Vermont to the Eastern Townships of
Quebec, then down the river to Elizabethown, near Brockville.
He fought in the war of 1812.
They moved to Huron County, owning land at Chiselhurst.
the church (burned in 1890) was built on part of his land, Erected by Alice
Heppler and Maude Hoffman, daughters of Gordon and Mary Ford.

as a young man in 1852
