Subject: [BOND] BOND in Wales- info from National Library of Wales

For those interested, as I am, in researching the surname BOND in Wales...
I was just searching through the National Library of Wales website:
http://www.llgc.org.uk/index.htm
....and found in the section on marriage bonds in the ISYS @
http://www.llgc.org.uk/cronfa/cronfa_s001.htm a small list of people with
the surname BOND, some listed as Gentlemen, with at least one BOND I noticed
as being from Bedminster SOM (Somerset, England I presume). Please see the
list below,
~Monashee Sun from Canada
(researching Thomas Bond b.c.>1780's Wales)

First some background info from the site:

MARRIAGE BONDS AND ALLEGATIONS
At the National Library there are documents called bonds and affidavits
relating to about 90,000 marriages which took place in Wales between 1616
and 1837. There is an index to them. .......

Marriages in Wales before 1837
These marriages have at least one thing in common - they were all marriages
by licence as opposed to marriages by banns. Both types of marriage were
recorded in the parish registers, but the bonds and affidavits are only to
do with those people who married by licence. .......

Before 1837 almost every marriage in Wales would have been in a parish
church (Church of England, now Church in Wales). Indeed, between 1754 and
1836 nobody except Jews and Quakers was permitted by law to marry anywhere
else. In 1837 it was made permissible to marry in a register office, a
nonconformist chapel or a Roman Catholic church also. ........

What information does the Index contain?
The details which may be gained from the Marriage Bonds Index are: the names
of bride and groom; their rank or occupation; their marital status; their
home parish; the date of the document; the church where the wedding was to
take place; the type of document(s) available [B - bond, A - affidavit, C -
certificate, L - letter, Lic - licence, O - order]; and the call-number of
the document(s).

-Listing of names I found containing the surname Bond:
There were two seperate entries for both the bride and the groom in the
search index, so I listed both (grouping bride and groom together, but
keeping them as seperate entries)... rather than blend them together as one
single entry.
