On second look, I think the footware is the same. My husband Tim, says
they are both wearing putties .He also feel the badges on the hats are the
same

My grandfather James Thomas lived in Brighton Sussex and served with the
Royal Egineers in WW1
I have a photo of him in uniform and I have compared your William's
uniform with my grandfather's and I find them very similar especially the
badges on the caps..My photo is not as close up as yours so I can't say
the badges are the same ..All I can is they look alike to my eyes

One difference though is your William looks to be wearing shoes and my
grandfather is wearing boots

I can send you the photo in a jpeg image if you would like to see it and
compare for yourself.

Hi All,
on the front page of the boniface website is photo of william john
boniface , can any one help me tell me any thing about the uniform,
thought it,s was a link between helen and my self but i think the uniform is
from the 1 st world war.
William john boniface was born 1870 and by looking at older photo's of him
i think it's william john boniface not what i first thought william boniface
from 1812 linked to helen.
if anyone can help me date the uniform it would be a help.
