Hello Everyone
A few weeks ago there was a report of the loss of the ship "Vanguard" with
the loss of all hands including the Captain, a William Boniface and his
wife.
Whilst I was indexing the records of Messrs Burfields, Auctioneers and
Valuers for the East Sussex Record Office, the following entries were found
and might be of interest to anyone researching his line.

Burfield Valuation Book 1878
BUR2/1/292

February 13th. 1879 pages 119-124
Valuation of property at Pevensey , Sussex, belonging to the late Captain
W.B.Boniface for a family arrangement.
Composing a new Red Brick built pointed dwelling House with Tiled Roof and
containing dinning room drawing room with bow side window, Breakfast Room 4
Bedrooms, Store Room, Cellar , Kitchen and Scullery with W.C. and out hse.
The House is well furnished fitted with Kitchener self supply House water,
Cooking and etc.
Nearly adjoining is a Dairy and there is a well of good water and a very
productive garden cultivating nearly an acre of land.
At the Eastern side of the garden is situated an excellent piece of Pasture
land containing about 2 Roods let at £3 per annum.
At the Western side of the garden is a stable and coach House, brick built
and tiled.
Also a Double Cottage each end containing Sitting Room, Kitchen, Scullery
and 3 Bedrooms.
The Cottages are Brick Built and Tiled Roof and let at 3/- per Week each.
The property is Freehold and has Extensive frontage to the Walls End and
Church Roads near Pevensey Bridge. Ret. Value £980
Charged £8-8-0 for the Probate April 4th. and sent to Mr Stephen Boniface

There are also 8 pages of an Inventory of Household Furniture and Sundry
Articles total value £30-13-0
Listed is a sample of some items
Ships Telescope, Caster Wood Sea Chest, 4 Drawings of Ships in Wood Frames,
1 Japanese Tea Caddy, Ships Compass
Japanese Cabinet containing small drawer, Solid Foreign Wood Pedestal Table
Japanese Wooden Tray, Japanese Water Can and wash Bowl.
Japanese or Chinese Cabinet with cane covered case
Glass Globe, 1 Parrot Cage, Inlaid Japanese Ivory Box.

After finding the above the following was found in the Probate Indexes
1879 Boniface. William
8th. January The Will of William Boniface late of 24 Bistern - Place, Poplar
in the County of Middlesex, Master Mariner who died in or since Aug. 1877 at
Sea was proved at the Principal Registry by Stephen Henry Boniface and
George Boniface both of Pevensey in the County of Sussex Graziers and
Charles Atkins of 1 Water - lane in the City of London Custom House agent
the surviving Executors

Personal Estate under £300.
