Hi Listers, FYI I am on a business trip and have limited
access to the Internet till Friday night (California Time).
Anyone needed help unsubbing will probably have to wait till
then -- just be patient. I've not forgotten -- I just have
no bookmarks to the Rootsweb list utility page or time to trouble-
shoot problems -- or ready access to the Internet.
Also please recall that you should not post warnings of various
types to Rootsweb lists. These emails about supposed congressional
bills, etc, are very old myths. They are against the policies of
rootsweb. However if you have something you think is important,
send it to the listowner.
Rootsweb has a listowners list on which such such topics can
be discussed and if need be, professionals can investigate. Then
an authoritive evaluation can be made. If you want help directly
from rootsweb, you can ask a question or read the FAQ's at the
rootsweb helpdesk at www.rootsweb.com .
Regarding spam -- you do not get spam on rootsweb lists. Rootsweb
has written a filter that detects it. Spam directed to this list
comes to me, the admin, and I can forward it onto the rootsweb
abuse address, where it is delt with by professionals (if it has
not already been handled).
It is also very difficult to get a virus from rootsweb because
attachments are not allowed. It is relatively safe computing.
If you have questions or complaints about th is list you can
bring it to my attention. You can reach any list admin at
<listname>- . The rootsweb help desk has
posted to the web FAQs of commonly asked questions including
directions on how to turn off MIME on commonly used email
programs and the like. It's very useful to browse through.
You can find it off www.rootsweb.com
Well... my class is starting again so I am gone.
