Subject: Census interpretation
Date: Wed, 26 May 1999 16:53:55 EDT
I have 1850 U.S. census of my gggrandfather and he is living in Northern
Vermont. It lists his son as being born in Canada. Usually there is a (Fr)
or (Eng) indicating either French part or English part of Canada, as it was
they were known then.
My relative has something else in the paranthesis and I can't interpret it.
It kinda of looks like (am city). I have occasionally seen it on other
individuals birth place, so this is not a unique situation.
Anyone have any idea what it means ?
Please help,
Mike Whalen in Massachusetts
