I have hit a brick wall in trying to find information on my father's
parents and hope that someone might have information or suggestions for
how to proceed. I would deeply appreciate your help.
My father, Joseph A. Daly, was born in Boston, MA on 7 June 1905 to
Stephen and Bessie (Mills) Daly. Joseph was put up for adoption when he
was three and I have been able to gather a little information on his birth
parents from court adoption records
Stephen Daly was from Canada and was born (in Canada or Ireland?...he is
listed as having Irish nationality) in 1879-1880. Bessie Mills was from
New Brunswick, Canada and was born (in Canada or Ireland?... she is listed
as having Irish nationality) in 1882-1883. I cannot locate the birth
record of Joseph A. Daly in Boston, so he might have been born in Canada.
I had the indices to birth records and marriage bonds in New Brunswick
checked and there were no results.
I had the indices of passenger lists of vessels arriving in the ports of
Boston MA and Portland ME between 1902-1906 checked and there were no
results.
I understand that the 1891 and 1901 Canadian censuses are not indexed
Any help would be appreciated.
