- Free "Genealogical Periodical Annual Index"

Heritage Books has released an "eBook edition" of the
"Genealogical Periodical Annual Index." The latest edition of this
index is now available at no charge.

The following is the announcement from Heritage Books:

By the regular use of Genealogical Periodical Annual Index
(GPAI), researchers can save hundreds of hours spent
duplicating research which has already been done, or in trying
to find the resources they need.

An essential research aid: For nearly forty years GPAI has
been an essential tool for historical and genealogical
researchers because it is a comprehensive surname, locality,
and subject index to hundreds of major genealogical
periodicals published in the English language each year. These
periodicals contain a wealth of historical and genealogical
data such as: family Bible records; compiled genealogies;
abstracts of source records from town, county, state, and
national archives, as well as innumerable private collections.

In addition to indexing all the substantive articles in these
periodicals, GPAI also indexes the many book, CD-ROM, and
eBook reviews which appear in them. Thus, the GPAI user also
learns of new resources which appear in these formats, as well
as the thousands of periodical articles.

Nine eBook volumes currently available:

Heritage has now introduced eBook editions of the volumes
of GPAI from 1992 through 2000. These new eBook editions
are totally electronic, totally searchable, Adobe Acrobat
(tm) *.PDF files, and are available via email delivery at a
fraction of the cost of the cloth bound library editions
(which are also available).

In order to make more researchers aware of this valuable
research tool, Heritage is giving away free copies of the
latest edition of GPAI for a limited time to all subscribers
to its twice-monthly email newsletter, Heritage News (which is
itself a useful tool for researchers).

follow the links from the news flash.
