I am interested in the family of Dawson and Lucy MILES, married in
London, England, Oct. 13, 1842 and living in Boston, Massacheusetts in
the 1860's. From copies of letters that he wrote, they lived in Boston
until at least Jan. 1873.
They had three sons, Dawson, Willie & George and a daughter Lucy.
Dawson had two brothers, Edmund and Walter. Edmund lived in Jamaica
and Walter was my Great Grandfather who came to Victoria, B.C. Canada.
There was also a sister Martha who remained in England and married Wm.
MOCKFORD.
In 1868 and 1869, I believe Dawson owned American Consolidated Fire
Extinguisher Company, 95 Water St. in Boston. There was a fire in
Boston in 1872 and the building burned and they lost everything.
In January 1873, he wrote a letter to my Great Grandmother and his
address was 22 S. Market St., Boston.
I would appreciate any information you could give me on these
ancestors. We wonder if they remained in Boston after the great fire,
or returned to England.
Thanking you.Eleanore Gill, Victoria, B.C., Canada
