Hi

My ancestor Harriot BATE left Sittingbourne, Kent about 1840 at the age of
65 and went to Boston where she died 28 May 1847.

I found her death in a Boston City Hall, Index to deaths Vol A-F 1810-48.
She was interned at 114 South Ground which is on Washington Street opposite
Rutland.

I tried to get a death certificate but one wasn't found. I would love to
know why she went to Boston. All her sons remained in England so I can
only assume she went with a married daughter. She had daughters Elizabeth
bt.25 Dec 1806 and Ann bt.27 May 1810.

Ann Bate may have married Thomas GILBERT in Chatham in 1835, or this could
be a different Ann.

Can anyone suggest any sources that would give me more information about
where Harriot lived and who with for her 7 years in Boston? Is the burial
ground still there?

Help!
