Anne --

All ship lists into Boston and other New England ports -- as well as all the
manifests -- are on microfilm at NARA (National Archives) on Trapelo Road in
Waltham (see www.nara.gov and go to regional archives).
It's well worth a visit! (Oops, I just realized that you are in England.
Try e-mailing NARA at and request a look-up. I believe
they will do this for you for a fee (maybe about $17).)

Having found the naturalization records for my grandfather and his siblings,
I used the ship name and arrival date to choose the microfilm for a
particular year. I found ALL of my grandfather and his siblings. The
information was extremely detailed -- down to hair and eye color, and names
and addresses of family back home and in the States. This was for the 1920s
. . . I don't know how it would be for 1908. But since you know the date
and ship name, you shouldn't have any trouble finding it.

I need to know the best source for finding the whole family. Alphabetical
lists would be of no use given that a lot of Irish names are so common.

the SS Numidian in Boston, Massachusetts. I have found a write up about
the ship, but nothing about passenger lists.
