I'm posting this not for the name but for the content and sentiment
expressed.
>From O I G Fermanagh Part III, Mullaghdun R C Church page 36.
"PATRICK FARMER 1913 - 1998.
A horrid nice man.
Also his father JAMES FARMER and Mother MARY ANN FARMER, Abocurragh. [no
dates] "
I wonder who carved this stone?
I can just imagine someone going and asking him to put a headstone up to
"Patrick Farmer, 1913 to 1998", then remarking casually "A horrid
nice man" and
the stone-mason wrote the remark down and carved it.
It conjures up the mental picture of a kind, helpful and obliging neighbour.
I think this MI would be to the Uncle and Grandparents of Mary Ann Bowles
[nee Dolan] d/o "Mick Micky" Dolan of Marlbank.
Mrs Dolan was Farmer and her brother, Paddy Farmer, lived almost on the lake
shore of Lower Lough McNean.
Paddy fished for eels. He, his wife and children were "A horrid nice Family"
in any person's words.
Viola
