Pam,
The application that Steve sent yesterday would be the testimony that
Ralph gave for his Rev. War Pension in 1832. It is not the full
application, but the part that told of his service.
It has nothing to do with the GA Lottery. GA, however, gave two chances
in the Lottery to men who had served in the Rev. It is because Steve knows
Ralph's migration path, that he is able to identify this as being the same
Ralph.
A full Rev. pension application has to give the place and date of
birth. That information is of more interest to me than 'what he did in the
war'. All of the Rev. War pension applications are on microfilm from the
National Archives. My Dallas library has a full set and I had thought I had
looked at all the Bozeman spellings, but I had not seen this man. Guess I
will have to redo this piece of research, unless someone else has already
seen it and can verify that there is no further information in the file.
The sad part is that all files are not complete. At least this gives his
age in 1838 as being 79 which reflects a "possible" birthdate of 1759.
