Douglas and nearby Jefferson County had Brethren settlements early on. The
Jefferson County Historical Society has collected obituaries from Douglas &
Jeffco newspapers from long ago and have them on card files in their office.
(I'm not familiar with Douglas County Genealogical Society's records, which
are at Lawrence, but believe they are not so well housed or organized, based
on the last newsletter I received a few years ago.) Jefferson County
Historical Society's address is POB 146, Oskaloosa KS 66066. Jefferson
County Genealogical Society's address is POB 174 Oskaloosa KS 66066. I
would suggest a financial contribution accompany any requests for lookups.
