By all means jump in.

Because I'm in Canada, I have not as yet been able to do too much searching in
Somerset Co., but what I have found is that the Stumps seem to be a rarity in that
County. (The only thing I've found so far is that there is a cemetery on an old
Stump farm in Shade Township.) I think, given the few Stumps in that area, there
is a good possibility that Johanna is related, although from her birthdate, I'd
say that she's more likely a sister or cousin than a daughter. Was Johanna a part
of the River Brethren?

What kind of records were kept in the U.S. at that time? Would the family show up
in any census records?

I'm on the verge of finding the missing brother. Right now I'm waiting on census
reels to see if he's where I think he is.
