They are as follows: Peter Heckman b abt 1779 m. Mary Elizabeth Kinsey 05
Sept. 1803\04 in Franklin Co. PA. I believe that Peter's grandfather (?)
was the pastor of a Brethren Church ; Little Swatara Congregation. I am
just not sure. If anyone knows the family line back from Peter, please
respond.

>The other family would have been the Barklow family. An arcticle in the
Myrtle Point HERALD (vol 86 no 45 Thursday, November 4, 1976) told of the
family of Barklows who left Ontario, Iowa for Oregon and founded the Church
of the Brethren.
This would have included: David Barklow and family, John Barklow and
family, Samuel Barklow and family, their mother Anah Meetlen Barklow, and
Elizabeth Snyder. Is there any Church records or biographies on these
members of the Church?

Dawn--

I can't help you on your Kinsey line but I might be able the start you out
on your Helsel line. My great-great-grandmother Susannah Snyder m. Jacob
T. Crist. They and some members of her family removed from Bedford Co., PA
(specifically Pavia) to Keokuk Co., IA (where my great-grandfather, Ira
Franklin Crist was born) and then to Pawnee Co., NE. From there some of
Susannah's family moved to Coos Co., OR. Anyway, here is material from two
sources. I have corresponded with Lucille Stover Randolph and she has
supplied me with additional information. I have a Snyder contact in
Nebraska, and I need to write to him for additional information on my
Snyders and the Millers. Hope these help you.

at the time of the 1870 census. In 1873 Alexander and Sophia, Nancy and
John Barklow, and Elizabeth Snyder (later Steele) went to the Oregon
coast and settled in Coos Co. About that time, John and Mary, Daniel
and Sarah, Alexander and Mary Miller, and Susannah and Jacob Crist,
together with their mother, Nancy (Holsinger) Snyder, moved to Pawnee
Co, NE. I do not know if their father, George Snyder, was still living
or if he had died in IA. My grandparents, John Stuver and Sarah
(Snyder) Stuver, left Cambria Co, PA about 1868 and moved to Waterloo,
Black Hawk Co, IA. John died in 1870. In 1879, the family settled in
Dakota Territory, Turner Co, on a tree claim and in 1884 they went on to
the Black Hills, where they remained until 1906, at which time my
