Durnbaugh's THE BRETHREN IN COLONIAL AMERICA lists what I assume is this
family in various spellings.
In his brief history of the Little Swataro congregation pp181-182, he lists as
members George Beasher and Jacob Beshor and wife. Then: "Their beginning
was in this manner. About the year 1745 one George Besher settled in this
neighbourhood..."
On p 222 he quotes Christopher Sauer II's journal for August 1780: "and on
the 12th held a meeting there [Little Swatara] and ordained the following
brethren...and the brethren George Bszhaar and Jacob Mayer as ministers in
Little Swatara."
My Sarah Wolam Shaw traces back to Maria Magdalena Boshaarin Wollam, daughter
of George Boshaar and Mary Elizabeth Wennerich. I don't have dates for George
Boshaar, just a notation that he is thought to have arrived in America 1709/10
with his parents. I'm hoping that this George Boshaar and the George
Bszhaar/Besher/Beasher of Little Swatara are somehow connected.
Is someone following this family? Where can I learn more details about the
folk of Little Swatara?
